Kids Pitching Instruction
By Jeff Moree for YouthPitching.com
Finding a good youth pitching instructor can be very difficult, especially if you live in an area where baseball is not very popular. There is a big difference between a youth pitching instructor and an advanced pitching coach.
A good pitching coach is trained to take your current mechanics and make slight tweaks to them in order to produce a better end result. These coaches know many drills that can help with mechanical problems, as well as help make you throw harder.
Finding an experienced pitching coach can be difficult, so you may need to ask around. Be sure the pitching coach you find is well qualified to teach pitchers your age. If your player is 12 years old, don't seek the help of a coach who specializes with high schoolers. This won't help you much.
Another good way to receive quality pitching instruction is with pitching camps or clinics. Look for flyers posted around your Little League for information on any upcoming pitching camps. These can be a good way to receive instruction from qualified coaches.
Sometimes different associations or independent pitching coaches will host pitching clinics. These clinics vary in length from one day, to several days. Many times they will be categorized by age group, so make sure to find one that suits your needs.
